Hello. This time, I would like to talk about the announcement of the anime adaptation of “Wistoria: Wand and Sword”.
“Wistoria: Wand and Sword” is a sword and magic academy fantasy based on the comic written by Fujino Omori and illustrated by Sei Aoi. It’s currently being serialized in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine and has released up to volume 5.
The TV anime adaptation of “Wistoria: Wand and Sword” has been decided! It is scheduled to start broadcasting in July 2024 on the TBS network across 28 nationwide stations. Teaser visuals, a special announcement PV, and the main cast have also been announced, so let’s introduce them.
What is “Wistoria: Wand and Sword”?
The synopsis of “Wisteria of Wand and Sword” is as follows:
A boy named Will enrolls in a magic academy aiming to become a full-fledged magician. Despite being hardworking, he has a fatal flaw as a magician – he cannot use magic at all. Facing cold stares from classmates and teachers, and sometimes feeling disheartened, Will perseveres with a strong spirit. Unable to wield a wand, he takes up the sword to fight in a world where magic is supreme, believing in the unique power granted to him. And to keep a promise to someone important… The story of an underdog boy challenging magic with a sword begins now!
The story is full of highlights, including the growth of the protagonist, who is a magic-incapable underdog, his talent in swordsmanship, bonds with childhood friends and companions, school life and adventures at the magic academy, and battles between magic and swords.
Teaser Visuals and Special Announcement PV Released!
With the announcement of the anime adaptation, teaser visuals and a special announcement PV have been released.
The teaser visual features the magic-incapable protagonist, Will Selfort, and his childhood friend known as the “Secluded Ice Princess,” Elpharia Alviss Selfort. Will holds a sword, and Elpharia holds a wand, each with their expressive faces and atmospheres.
The special announcement PV shows high-quality action scenes of Will and beautiful magic scenes of Elpharia. It also gives a glimpse into the relationship between Will and Elpharia, and the atmosphere at the magic academy. Both fans of the original work and those new to “Wisteria of Wand and Sword” will be drawn into the story’s world.
Main Cast Announced!
The main cast has also been announced. The role of the protagonist, Will Selfort, will be played by Kouhei Amasaki, and Elpharia Alviss Selfort will be played by Akari Kitō. Amasaki commented, “I was filled with joy to be able to play Will, jumping up and down, but at the same time, I felt a great responsibility.” Kitō commented, “I am Akari Kitō, and I have been cast to play Elpharia Alviss Selfort. As I read through the original work for the audition, thinking how much Elpharia is devoted to keeping a promise with her childhood friend Will, I realized she is not only an amazing person but also a truly cute girl with a straightforward heart!”
