Okay, everyone, stop what you are doing. Seriously.
THE MAIN TRAILER FOR ‘ULTRA KAGUYA-HIME!’ JUST DROPPED AND IT IS GORGEOUS!
We knew Shingo Yamashita (the genius behind the Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man OPs) was directing his first feature film, but I wasn’t prepared for this.
It’s colorful, it’s emotional, and the music… oh my god, the music.
And if that wasn’t enough, they just announced that the legendary Rie Kugimiya is joining the cast!
My hype levels are through the roof. Let’s dive into this masterpiece-in-the-making!

Tactical Analysis: Why This Movie Will Be PEAK
I’ve watched the trailer about 50 times now, and here is why I think this is going to be a masterpiece.
1. The “Music Animation” Concept is Insane
This isn’t just an anime; it’s a “Music Animation Project.”
The lineup of Vocaloid Ps involved is literally the Avengers of the music world:
ryo (supercell), kz (livetune), 40mP, HoneyWorks…
Are you kidding me?!
The trailer features “I Like Me” by HoneyWorks and the main theme “Ex-Otogibanashi” by ryo (supercell).
Hearing Saori Hayami (as Yachiyo) singing a ryo song gave me literal chills. It feels like the golden era of Nico Nico Douga meets high-budget cinema.
2. Shingo Yamashita’s Visual Magic
If you’ve seen the *Chainsaw Man* OP, you know Yamashita-sensei is a master of blending emotional storytelling with dynamic camera work.
The trailer shows Kaguya and Iroha in the virtual world “Tsukuyomi,” and the visuals are stunning.
The way the camera sweeps through the digital landscape while keeping that hand-drawn warmth… it’s pure eye candy.
Studio Colorido (*Penguin Highway*) brings their signature cuteness, and Chromato brings the edge. It’s a perfect match.
3. Rie Kugimiya as a… Sea Slug?
Yes, you read that right.
The Queen of Tsundere, Rie Kugimiya, is voicing a character named FUSHI, who is described as a “fluffy sea slug.”
In her comment, she mentioned FUSHI has a “surprisingly clear personality” despite the cute looks.
I can already hear the voice. It’s going to be adorable, sassy, and probably steal the show.
Adding her to a cast that already includes Yuko Natsuyoshi (Kaguya) and Anna Nagase (Iroha) is just unfair. The voice acting is going to be top-tier.
Final Thoughts: A Happy End for Kaguya?
The story is about Kaguya fighting against the “Bad End” of returning to the moon.
She wants to become a top idol in the virtual world and grab her own “Happy End.”
The trailer hints at a tear-jerker ending (“Is the pick-up from the moon really coming?”), but with this team, I have hope.
“I will grab my happy ending with my own power!”
That line from Kaguya hit me hard.
Mark your calendars for January 22, 2026.
We are all going to “Tsukuyomi” together.
Are you ready to stream the legend?
